Camera Obscura

After watching the video on photographic history, the students worked in groups to make a Camera Obscura. I thought it would be a good way for students to see not only how photography has evolved but to also see the rudimentary mechanics of how a camera works. The students worked in groups to build the camera. They used mat board,tracing paper, duct tape and a magnifying glass to construct the camera. Afterward, the students used colored tape to decorate the exterior. Finally, I asked each group to make a video explaining the origins of Camera Obscura, how it was made and how it worked. This was a fun project that got the kids really working and thinking.
